What region could you offer a customer as an alternative to Stellenbosch for similar experiences?

    • A.

      Mossel Bay

    • B.

      Franschoek

    • C.

    • D.

      Stellenschoek

    Correct Answer
    B. Franschoek
    Explanation
The Franschoek valley is a small but significant region, inland (to the west) of Stellenbosch. Surrounded by the Drakenstein mountains, the wide variety of soils and relatively high rainfall permits production of a wide variety of wine styles. It's a hotter region than Stellenbosch, and with loads of trendy restaurants it can rightfully claim to be the gourmet capital of the winelands. An easy day trip from Cape Town.

    Correct Answer
    G. All of the above except catapult (yet...)
    Explanation
Several daily flights operate from Johannesburg to HDS/MQP, and one direct flight daily from Cape Town.
From the airports you can be transferred either by road (2/3 hours) or flight (25 mins - for those without money restrictions).
If staying towards the north of the park, HDS is better, otherwise MQP should be fine.

Direct flights to the safari lodges from Johannesburg take around 90 minutes so very easy and convenient. A ranger from the lodge will be able to meet you at the airstrip and transfer you by game drive vehicle to your lodge.

Self driving is the cheapest way to do it and usually takes around 6 hours. Well maintained roads and beautiful scenery - can always split the drive by spending a night or two in the Kruger surrounding area and Panorama Route.
