Course Description

This is a virtual, one-hour program focusing on telescopic solutions for near and distance tasks in low vision rehabilitation. The program will focus on how to effectively and efficiently achieve goals using telescopes and also discuss bioptic driving. Case-based discussions of the recommended techniques and prescriptions will be included.

Lecture Objectives:

Understand how to determine appropriate magnification of telescopes to evaluate at varying levels of visual impairment. Understand the benefits, limitations, and effective prescribing of monocular telescopes. Understand the benefits, limitations, and effective prescribing of bioptic telescopes. Understand when contrast is a barrier to telescopes. Understand telemicroscopes and appropriate prescribing.
