This means that music is used for worship in holy places such as churches, mosques, temples and shrines. Most importantly, music is a universal language. This means that people appreciate and sing songs that are composed in languages that are not their own. For example. A Yoruba man can sing a song in Igbo , idoma, Hausa, Edo or tiv languages. SOURCES OF MUSIC  The main source of music is sound. Sound can be defined as things we can hear. It can be produced in the following ways 1. With the human voice 2. By playing musical instruments 3. By striking two objects together 4. By animals, thunder, wind, birds cars, aeroplanes and so on.  Sources of sounds There are two main sources of sound 1. Natural sources 2. Artificial sources  1. Natural sources This is when sound is produced naturally. Example . the human voice or sounds made by animals, winds , thunders, birds, insect, waterfall etc. 2. Artificial sources This is regarded as man made sources of sound. Examples are sound of musical instruments, cars, radio, train, television, aeroplanes etc There are two types of sounds 1. Organized sound  2. Unorganized sound NOISE Noise is an unorganized sound that is unpleasant to the ear. It is characterised by its indefinite, irregular and unequal sound. Examples of noise are : shouting, crying, many people talking at the same time, playing musical instruments without a rhythm, blarring of horns and so on.
