Nerve Quizzes, Questions & Answers

Nerves are spread all over your body. But what exactly are nerves? Nerves are enclosed bundle of axons in the peripheral nervous system. They look like cables and provide a common pathway of impulses that are transmitted along each of the axons to the peripheral organs. Apart from the peripheral nervous system, we also have the central nervous system in which the analogous structures are referred to as tracts.

Nerves contain many axons each of which is surrounded by endoneurium, a layer of connective tissue. A group of axons called fascicles is wrapped in a layer of connective tissue called the perineurium. And the entire nerve is wrapped in a layer of connective tissue called epineurium. Did you know that nerve impulses are actually electrochemical impulses? Take our quizzes and learn more about nerves.
